Miami’s defense has coped with a few injuries and transports in recent weeks; nonetheless, Garvin is a push off the border. The linebacking crew has lots of experience and is strong. It is reductive, but Miami can ascend higher in those rankings if the offense can score sufficient.

No. 5 Florida State
Florida State will need its own defense. Brian Burns causing havoc with the Carolina Panthers, is gonebut there is still lots of power up front — beginning with tackle Marvin Wilson. Last year, Wilson recorded 3.5 sacks and nine run stuffs, which can be tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage. Defensively, FSU ought to be a unit.

Quarterback James Blackman needs wideout Tamorrion Terry — 10.2 metres per goal in 2018 — to have another huge season for a sophomore. Obviously, running Cam Akers features prominently as a bellwether for FSU. Things should be better in the second season in Tallahassee of Willie Taggart if he is going directly.

Florida State needs reliable creation but much of his achievement is connected to an offensive line that fell on its face last season. Akers posted an opportunity rate of 37.9 per cent, so on less than 38% of the 161 carries the offensive line”failed its job” by producing five or more yards of living room.

That needs to increase in 2019.

No. 6 Virginia Tech (tie)
The Hokies, after a 2018 season and offseason, are back on sound foundation . It’s noteworthy that S&P-plus enjoys Virginia Tech; the projects the Hokies as a group from the FBS this season, greater than UVA and Syracuse.

Virginia Tech has decent balance; this is. Ryan Willis has an opportunity to solidify his status as one of the better quarterbacks in the ACC. For this effort, Willis will have help from one of the underrated receiving duos from the FBS — Damon Hazleton and Tre Turner.

No. 6 Wake Forest (tie)
Dave Clawson is the league’s Steady Eddie, If it comes to ACC football coaches. He’s also pretty good at his job. Over the last three seasons, Wake Forest has won 22 matches, including three straight bowl victories — something even Jim Grobe could not accomplish during his tenure at Winston-Salem.

More, qualify for a different bowl and Wake Forest — using redshirt junior Jamie Newman at quarterback — projects to win 6 games that are .
